* feat(open-swe): add Jira tool plane (Phase 1)
Curated Jira Cloud REST v3 toolset for the agent, mirroring the Linear
tools:
- utils/jira.py: service-account REST client (Basic auth) with get/
create/update issue, comments, list projects, trace comment; issue and
comment bodies normalized to markdown.
- utils/adf.py: minimal ADF <-> markdown conversion (read paths convert
Jira ADF to markdown; agent comments convert prose to ADF).
- tools/jira_{comment,get_issue,get_issue_comments,create_issue,
update_issue,list_projects}.py wired into the tool registry and the
main agent tool list.
- tests/test_jira_utils.py: ADF conversion + mocked-transport util tests.
Reads JIRA_BASE_URL / JIRA_SERVICE_EMAIL / JIRA_API_TOKEN; unset env
returns a clean error, so this is safe to land dark. Trigger plane,
prompt guidance, and config plumbing follow in Phase 2.
* feat(open-swe): add Confluence tool plane (Phase 3)
Curated Confluence Cloud REST toolset for the agent, mirroring the Jira
tools:
- utils/confluence.py: service-account REST client (Basic auth) with
get/create/update page, add comment, CQL search. Page bodies are XHTML
storage format (not ADF), with minimal storage<->text converters;
update_page reads the current version and bumps it, as Confluence
requires.
- tools/confluence_{get_page,create_page,update_page,comment,search}.py
registered in the tool registry.
- tests/test_confluence_utils.py: converter + mocked-transport tests
including the version-bump path.
Reads CONFLUENCE_BASE_URL / CONFLUENCE_EMAIL / CONFLUENCE_API_TOKEN;
unset env returns a clean error. Activation in the agent tool list lands
with the Phase 2 server.py wiring.
* feat(open-swe): add Jira trigger plane (Phase 2)
Make an @openswe comment on a Jira issue spawn an agent run, mirroring
the Linear trigger plane:
- webhooks/jira.py: process_jira_issue clones process_linear_issue —
deterministic thread id, full-issue fetch, actor accountId->email
attribution feeding resolve_login_from_email_async (PRs open as the
human), multimodal image handling, source="jira" + jira_issue config.
- webapp.py: POST/GET /webhooks/jira, verify_jira_secret (constant-time
X-Automation-Webhook-Token check, fails closed), repo-resolution
cascade, get_repo_config_from_jira_mapping.
- utils/jira_project_repo_map.py: JIRA_PROJECT_TO_REPO (placeholder
entry — real project->repo mappings still needed).
- utils/jira.py: get_user_email (accountId -> email) for attribution.
- completion.py: source=="jira" failure-reply branch.
- prompt.py: Jira-triggered notify guidance + Refs:/branch key from
{jira_project_key}-{jira_issue_number}.
- server.py: read jira_issue config + pass jira key to the system
prompt; also activates the Phase 3 Confluence tools in the agent list.
Jira Automation lacks native webhook HMAC signing, so trust is a shared
secret header (decision D2); replay protection is weaker than Linear's
HMAC+timestamp. /sh-security-review + an Atlassian IP allowlist are the
outstanding gate/hardening before push.
* fix(open-swe): harden Jira webhook trust (sh-security-review)
Resolves findings from the Phase 2 security review (detector fan-out +
proof-or-kill verifier). The unsigned Jira Automation webhook body was
trusted for identity, comment content, repo routing, and issue
existence; a JIRA_WEBHOOK_SECRET holder could forge those fields.
- Corroborate against the real Jira record: the webhook body is now only
a pointer (issue_key + required comment_id). The triggering comment's
author and text are re-fetched server-side via get_comment/fetch_jira_
comment, and identity, the @openswe check, prompt text, and project
key are derived from that authoritative record — never payload author/
body fields. An uncorroborated comment is rejected. (closes the
account-id impersonation, unsigned-body prompt injection, and
fabricated-issue findings)
- Validate issue_key against the Jira key format and percent-encode all
untrusted path segments (_seg) so a crafted key can't traverse to a
different Jira REST endpoint or inject query params. (closes the path-
traversal / query-injection findings)
- Route source=="jira" through the bot-token-default / author_prs_as_
user opt-in path in resolve_github_token, matching Linear, instead of
unconditionally resolving a per-user OAuth token from a payload email.
- Gate attribution on an active user mapping (is_login_mapped) so a
pending/unconfirmed mapping can't drive PR authorship.
Adds regression tests: server-corroboration wins over payload, malformed
issue_key rejected, uncorroborated comment rejected, path-segment
encoding, project-key derivation, active-mapping gate.
Remaining (non-blocking, deployment/hardening): set ALLOWED_GITHUB_ORGS/
REPOS so the shared allowlist isn't fail-open; consider HMAC-over-body +
timestamp on the Automation payload to close the residual replay gap.
* harden(open-swe): opt-in Jira webhook replay/IP + fail-closed allowlist
Folds the two deployment-hardening items from the Phase 2 security review
into code (all opt-in / default-off, so existing and upstream deployments
are unaffected):
- JIRA_WEBHOOK_REQUIRE_SIGNATURE: when set, the Automation payload must
carry X-Openswe-Signature (hex HMAC-SHA256 of the raw body keyed by
JIRA_WEBHOOK_SECRET) plus a fresh timestamp, verified by
verify_jira_signature / _jira_timestamp_is_fresh (mirrors the Linear
HMAC+freshness model). Closes the static-token model's replay/forgery
gap when enabled.
- JIRA_WEBHOOK_IP_ALLOWLIST: optional CIDR allowlist on the webhook's
direct client IP (verify_jira_source_ip). Documented as direct-peer
only; behind a proxy/LB, allowlist Atlassian's ranges at that layer.
- REQUIRE_REPO_ALLOWLIST: makes an empty ALLOWED_GITHUB_ORGS/REPOS fail
CLOSED instead of the back-compat allow-all, plus a startup fail-open
warning. Applies to all channels for consistency.
Documents all new vars (and a Jira section) in .env.example. Adds tests
for signature on/off + valid/missing/wrong/stale, IP allow/deny/off, and
the fail-closed allowlist.
* feat(open-swe): Confluence Atlassian Connect trigger (Phase 4)
Adds the @openswe-on-a-Confluence-comment trigger via a private Atlassian
Connect app. Designed and adversarially verified with the ultracode
workflow (3 divergent Opus designs + judge; 3 proof-or-kill Opus
skeptics on the implemented crypto).
- utils/atlassian_connect.py: hand-rolled qsh (pinned to Atlassian's
official test vector), PyJWT HS256 webhook verifier with alg-pinning,
issuer binding, and qsh-verified-last ordering; RS256 signed-install
lifecycle verifier against Atlassian's published keys; installation
store keyed by clientKey with the sharedSecret encrypted at rest
(TOKEN_ENCRYPTION_KEY / Fernet). No new dependency (PyJWT already pinned).
- webhooks/confluence.py: install/uninstall lifecycle + comment handler.
The JWT-signed webhook body is only a pointer; the comment's real
author/text/container are re-fetched server-side via the Basic-auth
service account (Phase-2 corroboration lesson), with active-only login
attribution and the repo allowlist.
- utils/confluence.py: get_comment / get_user_email (path-encoded).
- webapp.py: GET /connect/atlassian-connect.json (served dynamically),
POST /connect/{installed,uninstalled,webhook/comment-created}, the
space->repo resolver, thread-id, and fetch helpers.
- completion.py: source=="confluence" failure-reply branch.
Security: the sh-security-review verify pass confirmed one HIGH — the
symmetric signed-install=false first-install was trust-on-first-use gated
only by the public Confluence hostname (webhook-auth bypass). Fixed by
switching to signed-install=true + RS256 verification of lifecycle
callbacks, which cryptographically authenticates the first install. All
other attack lenses (forgery/replay/alg-confusion/overwrite/uninstall
DoS/corroboration/injection) were defeated; residuals are deployment
config (REQUIRE_REPO_ALLOWLIST) or accepted-by-design (qsh cannot cover
bodies; comment-trigger prompt injection, shared with all sources).
New env (documented in .env.example): CONFLUENCE_BASE_URL/EMAIL/API_TOKEN,
CONNECT_BASE_URL, CONNECT_EXPECTED_BASE_URL (optional). Install secrets
require the durable Postgres LangGraph store in prod.
Outstanding before push: /sh-security-review on the real diff and the
GPT-4.1 cross-family review (auth boundary); README/CLAUDE.md + memory.
* docs(open-swe): Phase 5 — Confluence prompt guidance + architecture docs
- prompt.py: Confluence-triggered runs notify via confluence_comment on
the triggering page; add Confluence to the shared-base source list.
- CLAUDE.md: document the Jira + Confluence tool planes and the Atlassian
triggers (Jira Automation shared-secret webhook; Confluence Connect app
with HS256 webhook + qsh and RS256 signed-install lifecycle), plus the
server-side corroboration + encrypted install store.
Phase 5 also verified the trigger surface end-to-end against a running
uvicorn app (descriptor served; /connect/* and /webhooks/jira fail closed
without valid auth) and recorded the integration in project memory.
* fix(open-swe): resolve /sh-security-review findings on the Atlassian surface
Formal sh-security-review (detector fan-out + verifier) over the Phase-4
Connect surface (esp. the new RS256 signed-install code, unseen by the
earlier adversarial verify) and the Phase-2 opt-in hardening.
CRITICAL — cross-tenant install (origin validation, CWE-346): signed-
install proves the caller is *an* Atlassian tenant, not *ours*, and the
descriptor is served publicly, so any attacker could install the app on
their own Confluence site and drive agent runs against our allowlisted
repos. The baseUrl body field is attacker-controlled and cannot bind the
tenant; only the signature-verified clientKey (JWT iss) can. Added a
MANDATORY, fail-closed CONNECT_EXPECTED_CLIENT_KEYS allowlist checked in
process_install after signature+iss verification.
HIGH — cross-tenant thread-id collision (CWE-330/863): Confluence comment
ids are per-instance, so generate_thread_id_from_confluence_comment now
salts the hash with the verified clientKey (plumbed from the webhook JWT
iss) to prevent thread hijack across tenants.
HIGH/MEDIUM — path/query injection (CWE-22/88): get_page and update_page
interpolated page_id into the REST path unencoded (update_page on a
mutating PUT with no params= backstop). Now _seg()-encoded, matching the
rest of the module.
MEDIUM — self-trigger loop (CWE-405): process_confluence_comment had no
bot-authorship early-out. Added an optional CONFLUENCE_BOT_ACCOUNT_ID
guard mirroring the Linear botActor / Jira comment_author_is_bot checks.
LOW — corrected the CONNECT_EXPECTED_BASE_URL comment to document it as
opt-in defense-in-depth (the clientKey allowlist is the real gate).
Verified clean by the detectors: RS256/HS256 alg-pinning, aud/iss/exp,
kid-fetch SSRF (host-pinned + quote-encoded), at-rest secret encryption,
constant-time comparisons, and the Phase-2 hardening. New regression
tests for each fix; full suite green (1602).
* harden(open-swe): GPT-4.1 cross-family review follow-ups
Cross-family review (GPT-4.1 via orchestrator cross_reviewer) found no
critical/high issues and confirmed the auth boundary is fail-closed and
correct. Two low-cost defense-in-depth items applied:
- Validate the signed-install JWT 'kid' against a strict charset before
the public-key fetch, so a malformed kid fails fast with no network
call (on top of the existing fixed host + percent-encoding).
- Make JWT nbf verification explicit (verify_nbf) on both the RS256
lifecycle and HS256 webhook decodes.
Other suggestions triaged as already-handled (aud cross-app replay is
blocked by the per-tenant iss->secret lookup; documented static-token/IP/
baseUrl tradeoffs; qsh pinned to Atlassian's vector) or ops/infra
(Fernet rotation via MultiFernet; rate limiting at the gateway).
* docs(open-swe): document Jira + Confluence in installation & customization guides
- INSTALLATION.md §5: add Jira (Automation-rule webhook + shared secret,
service account, JIRA_PROJECT_TO_REPO) and Confluence (Atlassian Connect
app install, CONNECT_EXPECTED_CLIENT_KEYS bootstrap, durable-store note,
CONFLUENCE_SPACE_TO_REPO) trigger setup; §6: add the new env vars +
REQUIRE_REPO_ALLOWLIST.
- CUSTOMIZATION.md: jira_*/confluence_* in the tools table; repo-extraction
note covers all four sources.
- AGENTS.md: match CLAUDE.md (triggers, webhooks, tool list, auth).
- README.md: invocation section, tools table, and overview line.
* fix(webhooks): fall back to vision model for Slack/Linear image threads
Re-land upstream #1626 onto the modular webhook structure. When a
Slack mention or Linear issue carries images but the resolved model is
text-only, fall back to a vision-capable model instead of dropping the
images. Re-points default_vision_model_pair at the fork's image-capable
models (Opus 4.8 default, else any supports_images model) rather than
upstream's openai:/anthropic: provider filter.
Refs #80, upstream #1626
* fix(slack): persist trace_message_ts so web-handoff updates the trace reply
Re-land upstream #1630 onto the modular structure. The first-mention
store_slack_run_mapping call did not pass trace_message_ts, so it was
never persisted (nothing to preserve from on first mention) and
_notify_slack_web_handoff always skipped the trace-reply update on web
handoff. Pass it through and cover it with a test.
Refs #80, upstream #1630
* feat(slack): include channel context in Slack prompts
Re-land upstream #1633 onto the modular structure. Fetch cached Slack
channel metadata once per event (_get_slack_channel_context) and thread
it through the docs-plz gate, repo resolution, and process_slack_mention
so prompts carry the channel name and a clearly-marked untrusted
channel description. Avoids duplicate conversations.info calls.
Refs #80, upstream #1633
* feat(tools): add slack_start_new_thread breakout tool
Re-land upstream #1638 onto the modular structure. Adds the
slack_start_new_thread tool (posts a top-level Slack message and
dispatches a fresh agent run for a broken-out task via the durable
dispatch_agent_run contract), wires it into the agent tool list and
tools/__init__, adds prompt guidance, and excludes it from plan mode so
it can't bypass the approval flow. Tool imports only live modules.
Refs #80, upstream #1638
* feat(plan): notify Slack on plan approval
Re-land upstream #1632 onto the modular structure. When a plan is
approved via the dashboard approve endpoint, post a thread reply to the
originating Slack thread noting the comment count and approver, after
the follow-up run is dispatched. Slack post failures never break
approval. Adapted to the fork's approve_plan (no plan_markdown read).
Refs #80, upstream #1632
* feat(plan): publish plans from sandbox files
Re-land upstream #1635 onto the modular structure, completing the
partially-ported change so dev is internally consistent. save_plan now
takes a plan_file_path, reads the agent-authored Markdown file from
/workspace/plans/ (validating extension/location/UTF-8/size) and
publishes it, instead of taking a plan_markdown string. Removes
write_file/edit_file from PLAN_MODE_EXCLUDED_TOOLS so the agent can
author the plan file, updates enter_plan_mode/reject_plan guidance and
the e2e fake LLM. Skips the #1610-only update_plan hunk (not on dev).
Refs #80, upstream #1635
* fix(security): SSRF-harden server-side image fetch + stop logging raw image URLs
INJ-01 (high): fetch_image_block used follow_redirects=True with no per-hop
revalidation and discarded the resolved-IP pin, so an attacker-authored Slack/
Linear image URL could 302-redirect the fetch to an internal host / cloud
metadata endpoint (blind SSRF), and DNS-rebinding could bypass the one-shot
is_url_safe check. Route image fetches through the same per-hop resolve+pin+
revalidate loop the http_request tool uses, lifted into url_safety as the shared
request_with_safe_redirects. Also strip the per-host Slack/Linear bearer token
on redirect so it can't be replayed to a redirect target.
SC-1 (low): linear.py logged full image URLs (which can carry signed tokens) at
DEBUG; multimodal logged them at INFO on every fetch. Log host-only.
Sink lived in multimodal.py (unchanged by the feature work) but PR #128 widened
its reach by no longer dropping images for text-only models. Fixing on the base
branch so #130/#129 inherit it on rebase. Adds fetch_image_block SSRF regression
tests (redirect-to-internal blocked; auth stripped on redirect).

* fix: inject reviewer trace context as JSON
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* fix: address review on PR trace resolution
Use the documented LangSmith metadata filter syntax
(and(eq(metadata_key,...), eq(metadata_value,...))) instead of
has(metadata, '{...}'), which does not match runs — _list_thread_runs
was silently returning nothing. Bound full-text searches to a 90-day
window so they don't hit LangSmith's large-window rate limit.
Also folds in the best-effort branch->head-sha resolver (dropping the
weighted scoring/threshold + repo/file evidence + GitHub hydration),
sandbox JSON injection, and the admin "Resolve trace" dry-run endpoint.
The IDOR findings are moot: resolve_pr_to_threads/summarize_agent_session
were removed; resolution now runs deterministically from the trusted run
config with no model-controlled pr_url or thread_id.
* fix: scope branch trace search to the repo
Branch names like fix-tests aren't unique across repos (or older PRs) in
a shared tracing project, so an unscoped branch hit could resolve to an
unrelated thread and write its runs into the reviewer sandbox. Require
the repo slug to co-occur with the branch in matched runs; the full head
SHA stays unscoped since it is globally unique. Addresses open-swe review
on PR #1612.

Hardens SLACK-PI-001 (sh-security-review). Slack channel topic/purpose is
editable by ordinary channel members and flowed verbatim into the agent LLM
prompt behind only a prose 'untrusted' label — an indirect prompt-injection
vector for an agent with network egress and repo write. Now strip leading
markdown structural tokens per line (so it can't forge the prompt's real
request/section delimiters), cap length, and wrap it in a per-render
unguessable sentinel fence (so injected text can't spoof a closing marker to
escape the data block). Deliberately diverges from upstream #1633.

* Adopt upstream modular webhook skeleton (#1621)
Apply the durable-interrupt-dispatch refactor: split the monolithic
webapp.py into a thin routing layer plus per-source handlers in
webhooks/{github,slack,linear}.py, and add completion.py, dispatch.py,
and reconcile.py. Reconcile fork divergence by keeping the Bedrock/
Fireworks cross-provider fallback, the no-agent-attribution prompt
policy, the dashboard-handoff re-export, and the Slack channel-info
cache. ci_autofix is restored on the new dispatch model in a later
commit.
Refs: #80
* Port fork webhook security delta onto modular handlers
Re-apply the fork's security customizations that #1621 did not carry:
Linear webhook replay protection (freshness window on the signed
webhookTimestamp), per-repo token-cache binding threaded through the
thread token resolvers, the INTERNAL_BOT_LOGINS self-check in the
review-finding-reply path, and a user-mapping cache refresh before
email resolution on the issue and PR-comment paths (multi-replica
staleness). Existing fork security tests pass unchanged.
Refs: #80
* Restore CI auto-fix on the modular dispatch model
Bring back ci_autofix.py and the ci_monitor graph that #1621 deleted,
re-wiring the fork's security-reviewed PR-babysitting onto the new
structure: the CI-event, autofix-toggle, and review-feedback handlers
move into webhooks/github.py and the github_webhook router re-gains the
check_run/check_suite/workflow_run/status routing plus the autofix
command and actionable-review branches. Auto-fix runs now dispatch
through dispatch_agent_run (durability + completion webhook) while
keeping the deliberate batch-while-busy skip-rule via
get_thread_active_status. Restore langgraph.json's ci_monitor entry and
the fork autofix tests (dispatch mock + import paths re-pointed).
Refs: #80
* Reformat and update docs for the modular webhook split
Point CLAUDE.md and deploy/MIGRATION.md at the new webhooks/ modules
and the dispatch/completion/reconcile contract, and mark the
user-mapping cache-refresh fix as applied on the GitHub handlers.
Refs: #80
* Restore reject backstop for autofix dispatch
A burst of near-simultaneous CI events for one head SHA can slip past
the busy-check before the dedupe SHA is recorded, so dispatch the
autofix path with multitask_strategy=reject (dev's prior platform
default) to drop duplicate concurrent creates instead of letting them
interrupt each other. Also make the completion failure-reply dedup
claim-then-post and drop the unreachable interrupted branch.

* fix(dashboard): managed-cloud OAuth hardening + admin user-mapping endpoint
Prepare the dashboard backend for the managed LangGraph Cloud + Vercel
runtime, where the API is HTTPS and cross-site from the UI.
- OAuth redirect_uri (#2): coerce a schemeless DASHBOARD_API_BASE_URL to
https:// in _api_base_url() so GitHub stops rejecting login with
"redirect_uri not associated with this application". _cookie_security()
now treats a schemeless (managed) value as Secure; SameSite=None too,
consistent with the coerced scheme.
- OAuth state cookie (#3): document that osw_oauth_state is host-only by
design (a Domain cookie is unsafe across *.vercel.app, a public suffix),
so login must always start on the stable alias to avoid "oauth state
mismatch". Operational contract; no behavioral change.
- Admin user mappings (#4): add POST /admin/user-mappings so an admin can
set the github_login -> work_email link from the dashboard instead of a
raw Store write. New "admin" MappingSource provenance value.
* fix(webapp): refresh user-mapping cache on GitHub webhook paths
On managed LangGraph Cloud the backend runs multiple replicas, so the
per-process GitHub<->work-email mapping cache can be stale on the replica
handling a webhook (a mapping created on another replica is invisible
until refresh). process_github_pr_comment and process_github_issue now
refresh the cache from the durable Store before resolving the author's
email, matching the existing Slack mention path (process_slack_mention).
* perf(webapp): defer deepagents import to speed custom-app cold start
The custom FastAPI app (agent.webapp:app, the langgraph.json http.app)
pulled deepagents -> langchain_anthropic -> anthropic into its import
graph via dashboard.routes, only to build skill/chat seed files. Defer
those create_file_data imports into the functions that use them. Removes
deepagents/langchain_anthropic/anthropic from app import entirely and
roughly halves module-import wall time (~0.6-0.8s -> ~0.35s warm; larger
cold-start saving since native anthropic init is skipped). Behavior
identical. (reviewer_diff already imports deepagents under TYPE_CHECKING.)
* feat(ui): set work_email user mappings from the admin dashboard
Add an "Add / update" form to the admin User mappings section and the
adminUpsertUserMapping API client method, wiring the new
POST /admin/user-mappings endpoint. Admins can now create or update a
github_login -> work_email mapping directly instead of waiting for the
user to self-connect Slack.
* docs: document managed LangGraph Cloud + Vercel deployment
- INSTALLATION §10: add the managed production env triad (LANGGRAPH_URL,
DASHBOARD_BASE_URL + DASHBOARD_API_BASE_URL with https://, empty
VITE_DASHBOARD_API_BASE_URL for same-origin), the stable-alias login
and vercel.json stable-deployment-URL requirements, multi-replica cache
note, plus redirect_uri-scheme and oauth-state-mismatch troubleshooting.
Refresh the langgraph.json snippet to all six graphs.
- README: reframe deployment around the managed migration; link the plan.
- deploy/MIGRATION.md: import the self-hosted -> managed migration plan.
* feat: default Slack/dashboard/schedule PRs + commits to the app identity (#57)
Slack/dashboard/schedule runs now author PRs and run git/gh operations as the
GitHub App seahaven-openswe[bot] by default (matching GitHub-issue runs), so the
self-review 422 is impossible by construction rather than guarded in the prompt.
A profile flag author_prs_as_user restores per-user attribution.
- open_pull_request._resolve_pr_author_token + auth.resolve_github_token: default
to the installation token for these sources; per-user only when opted in.
- authorship: commit identity -> seahaven-openswe[bot] (numeric noreply;
accepted Vercel-resolution risk, documented inline).
- self-trigger safety: INTERNAL_BOT_LOGINS + webapp/reviewer_reconcile/reply
markers recognize seahaven-openswe[bot] (bot-authored events are now ours).
Supersedes the prompt-only guard in #58.
* fix: author commits as the app bot in the default path (SH-IDSPLIT-01)
Security review found the commit identity was NOT actually unified to the bot:
resolve_triggering_user_identity got a 403 from the installation token and fell
back to configurable['github_login'], so commits were still authored as the
triggering user (commit=user, push+PR=bot — a three-way split that missed the
stated goal). Now gate the triggering-user identity resolution on the same
default-bot decision as the token: slack/dashboard/schedule default to the app
bot identity unless author_prs_as_user is set.
* docs(security): record AUTHZ-SLACK-BOT-DEFAULT-001 as an accepted residual (#59)
Single-user deployment; bounded by App-on-pilot + ALLOWED_GITHUB_REPOS lock.
Revisit (add a per-user gate) before expanding users or the App installation.
* fix: enforce a replay window on Linear webhooks (AUTHZ-001)
verify_linear_signature accepted any correctly-signed body with no freshness
check, so a captured request could be replayed indefinitely. Parse the
signed webhookTimestamp (Unix ms) and reject requests outside a 60s window,
failing closed when the field is missing or malformed — mirroring the Slack
verifier.
* fix: stop leaking upstream auth-error bodies into user comments
get_github_token_for_user folded the raw upstream response text into the
error string that becomes a Slack/Linear comment (AUTH-RESP-LEAK-01). Log the
full body server-side only and return a generic "GitHub auth failed (status
<code>)". Also document the accepted shared-installation-token blast radius on
the bot-token-only path (AUTHZ-003).
* fix: bind sandbox and token caches to repo to prevent thread-id collision
A PR head-branch name is attacker-controllable and get_thread_id_from_branch
derives a thread_id from its first UUID with no repo binding (TID-COLLIDE-01).
The in-memory sandbox cache and the per-thread GitHub-token cache were keyed on
thread_id alone, and a cached sandbox was reused after only an echo-ping, so a
different repo's webhook could bind to another thread's sandbox or token.
Without changing the persistent thread-id scheme:
- Persist the bound repo (owner/name) in thread metadata on sandbox creation and
refuse to reuse a sandbox whose bound repo does not match the current event
(SandboxRepoMismatchError); the in-memory proxy also carries the binding.
- Bind the GitHub-token cache entries to their repo and evict on a cross-repo
read so a colliding thread_id cannot be served another repo's token.
- Thread repo through the reviewer and the webhook token resolvers.
* fix: scope s3:ListBucket to the releases/ prefix (F-1/IAC-04)
The instance role and the GitHub deploy app role granted s3:ListBucket on the
whole assets bucket. Every caller (deploy.sh, the publish/rollback scripts)
only ever lists under releases/, so add a StringLike s3:prefix=releases/*
condition. GetBucketLocation has no s3:prefix in its request context, so it
moves to its own unconditioned statement. Also document the accepted F-2
cross-env existence-oracle residual on BatchGetSecretValue.
* chore: suppress test-fixture credential false positive; document AUTHZ-002
Add a machine-level suppression for the fake Datadog key in the
test_team_credentials encryption-roundtrip fixture (CWE-798, not a real
credential). Clarify that the within-org thread-write path is intentional by
design (AUTHZ-002) — comment only, no behavior change.
* fix: casefold repo-binding keys to avoid spurious cross-repo mismatch
GitHub owner/name are case-insensitive. Casefold the owner/name key on both the
write (binding) and read (compare) sides — repo_cache_key and the metadata
bound_repo read — so Org/Repo and org/repo resolve to one repo and a legitimate
same-repo run cannot raise a spurious SandboxRepoMismatchError (Gap 2).
* fix: stop leaking upstream auth body in unexpected-result branch
The 2xx-but-missing-token/url branch echoed the parsed upstream response body
into the user-facing error. Return a generic message and log response_data
server-side only, mirroring the existing HTTPStatusError fix (Gap 4).
* fix: fail closed for unbound-legacy sandboxes and catch repo mismatch
Gap 1: a thread with a persisted sandbox_id but no in-memory cache and no
recorded bound_repo (a pre-binding legacy thread, post-deploy) previously
reconnected-and-served the sandbox to the current repo, then rebound it. Now
fail closed: drop the stale id and recreate a fresh sandbox bound to this repo,
logging a reconnect-with-missing-binding event. A sandbox is never served to a
repo unless its binding is known and matches; new threads bind on first run
unchanged.
Gap 3: catch SandboxRepoMismatchError at the agent and reviewer run entrypoints,
log it for alarming, and surface a clean sanitized error instead of letting an
opaque deep-stack exception crash-loop the worker.
* chore: suppress test-fixture credential false positive in token-TTL tests
Add a machine-level suppression for the fake "ghp_secret" GitHub token used by
the cached-token TTL/revocation unit tests (CWE-798). Not a real credential and
not a valid PAT; scoped to the unit test only.
* feat: add plan mode for read-only research and planning
Adds a per-run plan_mode flag that puts the agent in a read-only
research phase: a strong prompt section is injected and mutating tools
are stripped via ExcludeToolsMiddleware so the agent proposes a
reviewable implementation plan before any edits. Surfaced in the
dashboard UI with a Plan toggle (Shift+Tab) wired through the thread API.
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* fix: enforce plan-mode read-only at tool layer and disable subagents
Addresses PR review: plan mode previously relied on prompt text to keep
the shell read-only and left the task subagent (built with its own
write/PR/Linear tools) unrestricted. Now `task` is excluded so research
cannot be delegated to a mutating subagent, and a new
PlanModeShellGuardMiddleware enforces a read-only command allowlist on
`execute`, blocking writes, git state changes, installs, redirection,
and command substitution regardless of model/prompt-injection compliance.
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* fix: harden plan-mode shell guard against wrapped mutations
Block git global options that take values (-C, --git-dir, ...) from being
misread as the subcommand, reject config-injection options (-c,
--config-env, --exec-path), and drop the env command wrapper that could
run arbitrary commands.
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* feat: add plan mode with enter_plan_mode tool, profile/team defaults, Slack commands and approval flow
- enter_plan_mode tool: agent self-activates plan mode via Command(update={'plan_mode': True})
- Plan mode resolution: per-thread > profile default > team default > False
- PLAN_MODE_GUIDANCE_SECTION: always-present prompt section telling agent about the tool
- profile_plan_mode_default and team plan_mode_default settings
- Slack plan on/off/status commands with thread metadata persistence
- slack_thread_reply plan_approval=True renders Approve/Revise/Cancel buttons
- Interactivity handler: approve triggers implementation run, cancel posts confirmation
- Frontend: plan_mode_default in Profile/ProfileUpdate/TeamSettings types and UI toggles
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* test: add tests for enter_plan_mode tool, profile/team defaults, Slack plan commands, approval blocks
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* refactor(plan-mode): drop shell guard, rely on prompt for read-only discipline
Remove PlanModeShellGuardMiddleware and its enforcement of read-only shell
commands during plan mode. Plan mode now relies on the system prompt to
instruct the agent not to run mutating commands; the mutating-tool exclusion
(ExcludeToolsMiddleware) is retained.
* test(open-swe): add Playwright E2E for the Slack → PR → web handoff
Local, secrets-free end-to-end suite that drives the full happy path through mock Slack/GitHub control panels and the real dashboard UI. Only the LLM and external SaaS HTTP boundaries (GitHub/Slack APIs, OAuth token mint) are faked — the real process_slack_mention, get_agent, deepagents loop, tools, middleware, and dashboard authorization all run under `langgraph dev` with a scripted fake chat model and a local temp-dir sandbox.
- full_flow: a Slack mention runs the agent, which implements a change in the sandbox, opens a PR against a fake GitHub remote, and replies with the PR link in the same thread.
- dashboard: clicking the bot's real "Open in Web" link loads the built ui/ app (served same-origin); the thread owner can continue the conversation, while a different user sees the same thread read-only (no composer).
Wired into Agent CI as a `Playwright E2E` job that runs on pull requests.
* fix(open-swe): serve E2E UI assets via explicit route; pin Playwright
The dashboard E2E served the built ui/ SPA's /assets via app.mount(StaticFiles), but LangGraph's custom-app loader serves APIRoutes and drops sub-app Mounts, so /assets 404'd under `langgraph dev` in CI — the React app never booted and the composer/transcript never rendered. Serve assets via an explicit route instead.
Also pin @playwright/test to the latest (1.61.0) for reproducible runs, and make the owner composer assertion tolerant of either hydration state.
* test(open-swe): record Playwright trace + video on every E2E run
Capture a replayable trace (DOM snapshots, network, console, source) and a screen recording for every test, not just retries, plus a screenshot on failure. The CI job already uploads playwright-report/ and test-results/, so each run now has a downloadable replay; documented how to open it.
* feat(plan-mode): collaborative plan review with BlockNote + Yjs
When the agent enters plan mode it writes the plan as a markdown file in the
sandbox (save_plan tool), publishes it, and posts a review link to the source
channel. Reviewers open the plan inside the dashboard (under the /agents shell),
read it rendered in a BlockNote editor, and leave inline comments synced live
over Yjs. Only the thread owner can approve; any reviewer can request changes.
On approve/reject the comments are harvested and handed to the agent for the
follow-up run; the agent never sees comments mid-review.
- agent: enter_plan_mode persists plan state; new save_plan tool; prompt shares
the plan-review link.
- dashboard: Yjs WebSocket collab server (pycrdt-websocket) with store-backed
snapshots; plan content/status store; plan REST API (get/approve/reject,
owner-only approve, client-harvested comments); planStatus on thread summaries.
- ui: BlockNote native comments (CommentsExtension + YjsThreadStore) plan page
mounted under the agents shell, with a "Review plan" banner in the thread view
and a back-link; theme-aware (dark mode) using the dashboard tokens.
- e2e: Playwright coverage of the full Slack -> plan -> review -> approve -> PR
flow, including cross-user comment sync and owner-only approval.
* fix(plan-mode): address review feedback (authz, overrides, leaks, deps)
- plan-collab WS: authorize per-thread before joining a room (same read gate as
the REST API) — previously any logged-in user could join any thread (IDOR).
- plan-collab: tie the snapshot flusher to active connections (refcount) so each
opened plan no longer leaks a permanent 1.5s task on the shared event loop.
- plan decisions: include thread_id in the follow-up run configurable so the run
resumes the existing thread; set plan_mode explicitly so approve forces it off.
- get_agent: an explicit per-thread plan_mode (Slack `plan off`, approved plan,
dashboard toggle) now overrides profile/team defaults instead of falling back.
- plan mode tool gating moved to a state-aware PlanModeMiddleware installed
unconditionally, so a mid-run enter_plan_mode restricts the next model turn;
before_agent resets stale plan_mode so a later run isn't forced back into it.
- exclude write-capable http_request from plan mode.
- pin pycrdt / pycrdt-websocket with upper bounds.
Includes the latest base (#1583): E2E UI assets served via explicit route
(fixes the Playwright CI failure — LangGraph's app loader drops sub-app mounts).
* style: ruff format plan_collab.py
* fix(plan-mode): owner-gate Slack approval + same-origin check on collab WS
- Slack "Approve & Implement" now verifies the clicking user is the plan
requester (owner, via the stored triggering_user_id) before implementing —
matching the dashboard API's owner-only approval. Non-owners are pointed to
Revise / feedback.
- The plan-collab WebSocket validates the handshake Origin against the dashboard
allowlist before accept() (no-op when unconfigured, e.g. local/dev), mirroring
the REST require_same_origin CSRF defense.
* fix(plan-mode): enter plan mode only via the model + local mock dev harness
Plan mode is now entered solely when the model calls enter_plan_mode.
Removed the per-user and team plan_mode_default settings (backend + UI)
and the Slack `plan on/off/status` toggle.
- enter_plan_mode returns a terminating ToolMessage, fixing the missing
ToolMessage error that silently dropped plan mode mid-run.
- PlanReview: defer Yjs provider/doc teardown so React StrictMode's dev
remount doesn't destroy and then reuse the collaboration provider.
- e2e plan_review spec asserts plan_mode actually engages.
- LangSmith trace-url resolution is best-effort: bail before any API
call when the tenant is unset, cache failures, log at debug.
- Add `pnpm run dev:mock`: same-origin Vite HMR harness with a real LLM,
Alice/Bob mock users, and a GitHub login picker.
* docs(plan-mode): drop stale references to removed profile/team defaults
The plan_mode middleware docstring and the approve/reject dispatch comment
still described the profile/team plan_mode_default resolution that no longer
exists; reword to match model-driven entry + the per-thread carry.
* feat(plan-mode): let any reviewer edit the plan, not just comment
Drop the owner/commenter split for the plan document: everyone with read
access edits and comments alike (DefaultThreadStoreAuth "editor" for all,
editor always editable until a decision, anyone seeds the empty doc). This
matches the collab WS, which already relays frames to every readable user.
Plan approval stays owner-gated.
* test(plan-mode): assert plan-mode entry via the tool's success message
plan_mode lives only in run state for tool gating; it is not a persisted
thread-state channel, so the previous `values.plan_mode === true` poll
could never pass. Assert instead that enter_plan_mode's success ToolMessage
("Plan mode is active …") lands in the thread — which only happens when the
tool's Command applies cleanly, the exact regression this guards.
* refactor(plan-mode): replace Yjs/BlockNote collab with plain HTTP comments
Drop the realtime collaborative editor (it can't work behind Vercel's
rewrite — WebSocket upgrades aren't proxied to the external LangGraph
backend) in favor of a simple whole-document comments API over plain HTTP.
Backend:
- Remove the Yjs WebSocket server (plan_collab.py), its lifespan, and the
collab router; drop pycrdt / pycrdt-websocket deps.
- plan_store: replace the Yjs snapshot with comment CRUD (one store item per
comment under ["plan","comments",thread_id]).
- plan_api: add GET/POST/DELETE comment endpoints; approve/reject now read
comments server-side and format them for the follow-up run (no longer
client-harvested). Comment delete is author-or-owner; approve stays owner-only.
Frontend:
- PlanReview renders the plan markdown read-only and shows a comments panel
(list + add, polled every 4s for cross-user visibility).
- Drop @blocknote/*, y-websocket, yjs; lib/plan exposes get/add/deletePlanComment.
Tests: unit tests for the comments API + route registration; e2e drives the
HTTP comment UI (owner + collaborator, cross-user visibility, owner-only approve,
PR echoes the harvested feedback).
* fix(open-swe): clear stale plan comments on republish; fail loud on store errors
Address reviewer feedback:
- Clear comments when a revised plan is published (save_plan_content) so
feedback on the prior revision doesn't resurface and get re-fed to the agent.
- list_plan_comments gains raise_on_error; approve/reject read comments before
mutating state and propagate store failures (500) instead of silently
dispatching the follow-up run with no feedback.

* feat: activate PR babysitting UI toggles for autofix and trigger mode
Remove the "coming soon" gating on the Autofix Mode, Autofix Severity
Threshold, and Trigger Mode controls in the review settings page so
admins can enable CI auto-fix and review-comment resolution on PRs
that Open SWE opens. The backend (ci_autofix.py, webapp.py webhook
routing) was already fully wired — only the UI was disabled.
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* feat: simplify autofix to on/off toggle, remove severity threshold
Replace the four-level AutofixMode (off/low/medium/high) and the
autofix_severity_threshold setting with a single boolean
autofix_enabled toggle. The severity threshold was leftover from the
reviewer finding-severity model and does not apply to CI autofix;
the agent should fix any failing CI and resolve any comments on PRs
it opens.
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* feat: move autofix toggle to per-user profile, remove team-level setting
The autofix toggle is now per-user (auto_fix_ci in the user profile)
instead of team-level (admin-only). This uses the existing auto_fix_ci
field that was already in ProfileUpdate but never wired up.
Changes:
- ci_autofix.py: check per-user auto_fix_ci profile flag after
resolving the agent thread's github_login, instead of checking
team-level autofix_enabled before knowing the PR
- webapp.py: removed early is_autofix_enabled() webhook gates; the
per-user check now happens in ci_autofix.py once the thread is found
- team_settings.py: removed autofix_enabled field, is_autofix_enabled()
- cloud-agents.tsx: enabled the auto_fix_ci toggle (was comingSoon)
- review.tsx: removed the admin-level autofix switch
- Updated tests and AGENTS.md
The agent graph (not the reviewer) is what gets dispatched - this was
already correct in ci_autofix.py line 223: client.runs.create(
thread_id, "agent", ...).
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* feat: batch PR babysitting events
Remove the leftover trigger-mode gate from PR babysitting and batch new CI/review events while an agent run is already active so the running agent can handle the latest PR state before finishing. Also moves review-feedback permission checks behind the per-user opt-out and applies the auto-fix profile gate to merge-conflict babysitting.
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* fix: consume batched babysitting events
Teach the agent queue middleware to turn pending PR babysitting metadata into an injected instruction for the active run, so batched CI/review events are not dropped while still avoiding duplicate run creation.
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* fix: address review findings in PR babysitting batching
- Route batched events through the LangGraph store (read in-process by the
message-queue middleware) instead of a per-model-call threads.get on every
agent thread.
- Only record an attempt / mark the head SHA handled on a real dispatch, not
on a batch, so an event isn't permanently dropped if the in-flight run ends
before consuming it.
- Carry the reviewer's comment through batched review feedback instead of
replacing it with a generic re-check nudge.

* feat: handle images sent to non-vision models in Slack, Linear, and web UI
Add vision capability checks across all image input paths. When a user
sends images to a text-only model (e.g. GLM 5.2, DeepSeek V4 Pro), the
images are now skipped and a warning is injected into the prompt instead
of sending unsupported content to the model.
- Slack: resolve model at webhook time, skip image fetch + add warning
- Linear: same pattern as Slack
- Queued message middleware: read resolved model from thread metadata,
strip images from queued payloads for text-only models
- Web UI: disable submit + show inline warning when images are attached
to a non-vision model selection
- Shared: resolve_agent_model_id helper + vision_not_supported_warning

* test: mock resolve_agent_model_id in Slack mention test
The test_process_slack_mention_queues_active_thread_message test was
missing a mock for the new resolve_agent_model_id call added to the
Slack webhook handler, causing a TypeError when image URLs triggered
the model resolution path.

* fix: include vision warning in queued payload for text-only models
Update the prompt variable (not just content_blocks) before clearing
image_urls so the queued payload also carries the warning text when a
Slack/Linear follow-up arrives while the thread is busy.

* feat: CI auto-fix and PR babysitting for agent PRs
Watch CI failures and review feedback on PRs Open SWE opened, then dispatch
confidence-gated fix runs on the originating agent thread. Adds CI webhook
ingestion (check_run/check_suite/workflow_run/status), a per-PR @open-swe
autofix on|off toggle, auto-response to review comments, and a polling
ci_monitor graph that also flags merge conflicts. Gated by the existing
autofix_mode/trigger_mode settings, the enabled-repos opt-in, base-branch and
human-commit skip rules, dedupe, and a per-PR attempt cap.

* fix: address review feedback on CI auto-fix
- Security: gate the no-mention review-feedback path on author trust —
require a trusted author_association (OWNER/MEMBER/COLLABORATOR) plus a
GitHub write/maintain/admin permission check before dispatching a
write-capable agent run, preventing privilege escalation from
read/triage/outside reviewers.
- Auth: reuse the originating PR thread's source + login/email when
dispatching fix runs so the GitHub-token resolver authenticates them in
non-bot-token deployments (bespoke github_ci source failed to resolve).
- Docs: document the Commit statuses: Read-only permission required for the
Status webhook event.

* fix: Reviews tab — anchored finding card, paginated list, file tree truncation
- Finding card now tracks the diff anchor while scrolling instead of staying
frozen in the viewport; auto-hides when its diff card collapses (including
collapse via mark-as-viewed) and on click outside
- Checks section capped with max height + scroll
- /reviews paginated (page size 20) with has_more, filtered to the current
user's PRs by default with an All toggle; PR author login now stored in
reviewer thread metadata
- File tree truncation marker overlapped filenames because the sidebar bg
was transparent; use the opaque sidebar color
* fix: finding card tracks anchor 1:1 while scrolling
Drop the vertical viewport clamp — it pinned the card at the clamp
boundary while the highlighted lines kept scrolling, breaking the
attachment.
* fix: anchor finding card with Base UI popover
Replace manual fixed-position tracking (laggy: setState per scroll
frame) with a Popover anchored to the finding's diff row. Floating UI
tracks the anchor outside React renders, so the card moves 1:1 with
the content and scrolls out of view with it. Unanchored findings keep
the fixed top-right card.
* fix: lock finding card to diff scroll
Replace the Base UI popover (async repositioning, paints a frame behind
native scroll) with a card absolutely positioned inside the scroll
container, so it scrolls with the diff in the same compositor frame.
Scroll moves to the ReviewBody root, side panel becomes sticky.
Position recomputes only on layout shifts via ResizeObserver.

* feat: track PR lifecycle state per thread for sidebar
Persist a PR's draft/open/merged/closed state on the agent thread and keep
it in sync as PR webhooks fire, so the Agents UI can show per-thread PR
status the way Cursor does. open_pull_request now records the initial
draft/open state and pr_title; thread summaries expose diffStats; and the
PR webhook refreshes pr_state on close/reopen/draft/ready transitions.

* fix: keep review check visible on follow-up commits and stop using neutral
The "Open SWE Review" check completed as `neutral` whenever findings were
surfaced, which GitHub renders as a confusing "neutral check" group. Always
complete it as `success` (informational/non-blocking), matching Devin and
Corridor — the finding count stays in the title and findings post as comments.
Also create a fresh check run on the new head SHA in the push re-review path:
GitHub only shows check runs on a PR's current head, so the check vanished
after a follow-up push (and the stale id settled on an outdated commit).

* feat: report Open SWE Review as a PR check run
Auto-review dispatch now creates an in-progress 'Open SWE Review' check run
on the PR head SHA; publish_review completes it (neutral with findings,
success when clean). An after-agent hook fails the check if the run dies
before publishing. Requires the GitHub App's Checks: Read & write permission;
all calls are best-effort so a missing permission never breaks reviews.
* fix: address review feedback on check-run settling
Keep review_check_run_id when the completion PATCH fails so a later
publish or the after-agent hook can retry instead of hanging the check;
count out-of-diff findings toward the check conclusion.
* fix: retry failed check completion with the real publish conclusion
A transient PATCH failure after a successful publish previously left the
check id for the after-agent hook, which settled it as 'failure'. Persist
the intended result as review_check_pending_result and have the hook
prefer it over the generic failure fallback.

* feat: out-of-process usage-snapshot builder (Phase 1)
Move all usage-tab compute off the run-serving HTTP process (the #1434 bug
class). Read path is now a pure cache read with a typed computing placeholder
on cold miss; a dedicated usage_snapshot graph + global ~10min cron rebuild
every period's snapshot out-of-process, wrapped in asyncio.timeout and gated by
USAGE_SNAPSHOT_CRON_ENABLED. Lifespan makes one fire-and-forget scheduling call,
never a retained/looping task.
* fix: address PR review on usage-snapshot builder
- admin guard on /admin/usage/rebuild (was any logged-in user)
- cap lifespan loopback calls with asyncio.timeout(5) so a startup hang
can't block boot
- memoize cron registration so steady-state requests skip the loopback
check; reap duplicate crons from concurrent-replica races
- thread the computing flag through the usage payload too
Add conversations.info fetch so a repo:owner/name (or GitHub URL) token
in a Slack channel's topic/purpose pins the channel to a repo, slotting

* feat(reviewer): surface dashboard UI link on PR reviews [INF-0000]
Post a transient "review in progress" comment (with an "Open in Web"
dashboard link) when a reviewer run starts, then delete it once the
review lands. The published review body now carries the same
"Open in Web" link, so the link persists on the review itself.
The transient comment's id is tracked in reviewer thread metadata
(status_comment_id) so it can be deleted on completion.
* refactor(reviewer): inline dashboard URL helper, drop redundant future import [INF-0000]
* fix: tag Slack threads with stored identity so they surface in web
process_slack_mention gated the run on mapped_login (resolved from the stable
Slack user id), but upsert_agent_thread_owner_metadata independently re-resolved
the GitHub login from the Slack profile email. When that email differs from the
user's mapping email (e.g. a personal vs work address), the lookup returned None,
so github_login was never stamped on the thread and the thread never surfaced in
the web Agents UI (which searches by github_login / triggering_user_email).
Resolve the GitHub user from the store via the Slack id, pass that login through
to the owner metadata, and use the mapping's stored work email (falling back to
the Slack profile email for unmapped users) for both the run config and the
thread tagging, so Slack-started threads reliably appear in web.
* fix: stamp github_login on Slack threads so they surface in web
process_slack_mention gated the run on mapped_login (resolved from the stable
Slack user id) but upsert_agent_thread_owner_metadata re-resolved the login from
the Slack profile email; when that email isn't the user's mapping email the
lookup returns None and github_login is never stamped, so the thread is invisible
in the web Agents UI (which searches by github_login / triggering_user_email).
Pass the already-resolved mapped_login through to the owner metadata. The
dashboard match keys on the stable GitHub login, so this is sufficient; the
triggering email stays the live Slack profile value.
* fix: preserve Slack email during account mapping
* fix: require Slack OIDC for email mappings
* chore: format Slack OIDC mapping cleanup
Reviewer/push runs execute in a worker process, but the GitHub token was
cached by the webhook handler in the API server process — a different
process — so the worker's in-process cache was always cold. resolve_github_token
then failed (User not authenticated / Unknown source: github_push) and only the
app-token fallback kept reviews working, noisily.
The reviewer always acts as the GitHub App (open-swe[bot]), so resolve the
installation token directly at run start, scoped to the repo. This also bypasses
org SAML enforcement that blocks user OAuth tokens. Drop the now-dead
cross-process cache writes in the webhook reviewer-dispatch handlers, and stop
leave_failure_comment raising on the github_push source.
The Linear webhook (`process_linear_issue` in `agent/webapp.py`) was the
only trigger whose user prompt did not surface the resolved repo to the
LLM:
- Slack: `## Default Repository Hint` (line 947)
- GitHub issue: `## Repository: ...` (`build_github_issue_prompt`, line 1443)
- GitHub PR: `## Repository: ...` (`build_github_pr_review_prompt`, line 1526)
- Linear: (missing)
`configurable["repo"]` was still being set and consumed by
`commit_and_open_pr`, but the agent itself never saw it. For tasks
routed via Linear team/project mapping, the LLM had to guess which
repo to clone — frequently falling back to `langchain-ai/open-swe`
(via `SELF_AWARENESS_SECTION` in `agent/prompt.py`) or
`langchain-ai/langchainplus` (via `default_prompt.md`), silently
targeting the wrong repository.
This is a regression: commit 5e4c6bb8 on branch `yogesh/stop-auto-cloning`
("fix: include resolved repo in Linear prompt to prevent repo ambiguity",
2026-03-16) added this exact line, but it was dropped when that branch
was squash-merged as PR #1159 ("feat: stop auto-cloning and let agent
manage repo setup", 2039fe66, 2026-04-10). Subsequent refactors
(e215f1ef, f662ad65) preserved the gap.
Adding the line back mirrors the GitHub/Slack prompt builders and
matches the rationale of e215f1ef ("Linear team/project mapping handles
per-team routing"): routing is correct, the prompt just wasn't
propagating it.

* fix: resolve reviewer head_sha from thread metadata, not frozen run config
A push that lands while a reviewer run is in flight is delivered as a
queued message into that run. The run's configurable is frozen at
creation, so its head_sha still names the commit the run was created for
— not the commit just pushed. publish_review then anchored the GitHub
review to the stale commit and regressed last_reviewed_sha to it, and
add_finding/update_finding stamped findings with the stale SHA.
Persist the current head in thread metadata at every reviewer dispatch
(both the ready-for-review and push paths, before they branch to create
a run or queue a message), and add resolve_review_head_sha() which
prefers the metadata head over the run config. Wire it into
publish_review (review commit_id + last_reviewed_sha), add_finding
(first_seen_sha) and update_finding (last_confirmed_sha). Falls back to
the run config when metadata carries no head (first review, eval, tests).
* fix: persist head_sha in manual review dispatch (trigger_pr_review_from_ref)
resolve_review_head_sha prefers metadata[head_sha] over the run config,
and the push/ready dispatchers write it — but trigger_pr_review_from_ref
(Slack/GitHub @open-swe review, request_pr_review tool) created a run
with a freshly-fetched config head while leaving metadata's head stale
from a prior dispatch. A manual re-review at a newer commit would then
resolve to the old head and publish/advance findings against it.
Persist head_sha in that dispatch's metadata write too, so every
run-creating reviewer dispatch keeps metadata in sync with the head its
run targets. Caught by the Open SWE reviewer on this PR.
* fix: scope public reviewer tokens
Co-authored-by: open-swe[bot] <open-swe@users.noreply.github.com>
* refactor: simplify reviewer token wiring; fix push re-scope + red test
- Remove the redundant _check_or_recreate_sandbox_for_proxy /
_refresh_github_proxy_or_recreate_for_proxy wrappers and call the
underlying functions directly (they already default the token to None).
- process_github_push_event: re-scope the GitHub App token when the push
payload lacked repo privacy/id but PR metadata reveals a public repo, so
reviewer.py never proxies a full-installation token for a public PR.
- Clarify the two-token sequence in trigger_pr_review_from_ref.
- Fix pre-existing failing test test_proxy_refresh_failure_recreates_sandbox
and add coverage for _reviewer_token_for_repo + push-event scoping.

* fix: deliver Slack account-link prompt as a visible threaded reply
Blocked Slack users got no prompt at all. Prod logs show chat.postEphemeral
returns ok, but ephemeral messages are silently dropped in Slack's assistant
threads (where Open SWE runs), so the user sees nothing. Post the prompt as a
normal threaded reply instead — the same channel the agent uses to reply.
* fix: deliver Slack auth-failure prompt as a visible threaded reply
leave_failure_comment() tried an ephemeral message first and only fell back
to a thread reply on failure. Ephemeral messages succeed (ok) but are dropped
in Slack's assistant threads, so the fallback never fired and the user saw no
auth-failure prompt. Post the visible threaded reply directly, matching the
account-link prompt fix.
* fix: prompt blocked Slack users with a generic, token-free dashboard link
Addresses the review findings that posting the per-user account-link token /
auth URL in a visible thread lets any channel member bind their GitHub account
to the triggering user's Slack identity.
Drop the per-user signed link entirely. Both the account-link prompt
(_post_account_link_prompt) and the runtime auth-failure prompt
(leave_failure_comment) now post a plain dashboard settings link
(build_settings_url) as a visible threaded reply. The user signs in with GitHub
from their own session and connects Slack via verified OIDC on the settings
page — no secret in the thread, nothing to hijack, and no DM machinery.
* feat: nudge first-time users to connect Slack from the dashboard home
Show a Connect Slack banner on the agents landing page whenever Slack OAuth is
enabled and the user hasn't linked Slack yet. A first-time user (no Slack
mapping) sees it immediately after signing in; it disappears once connected.
* feat: prompt first-time users to connect Slack via a dialog
Replace the inline Connect Slack card on the agents home with a modal dialog
(Base UI). It opens automatically once the mapping query resolves to
"not connected" and closes itself once Slack is linked; "Maybe later" dismisses
it for the session. No new dependency — uses the design system's Base UI.
* copy: frame Slack connect as resolving the user's GitHub account
Drop 'act/reply on your behalf' wording across the connect-Slack dialog, the
Slack thread prompts (blocked + auth-failure), and the settings description.
Connecting Slack lets Open SWE resolve the user's GitHub account when they tag
it in Slack.
* fix: clearer Slack prompt for users who must sign in with GitHub
The Slack gate labeled any mapped-but-tokenless user as having an
"expired or revoked" authorization, keyed off whether a *mapping* row
existed. Most blocked users are team members in the legacy hardcoded
mapping who have simply never completed a dashboard GitHub login, so the
message was misleading and steered them toward reconnecting Slack (which
never creates a token).
Base the prompt on whether an oauth_tokens *record* exists:
- no record -> ask the user to sign in with GitHub and connect Slack
- record but unusable -> ask the user to sign in with GitHub again
Add has_access_token_record() to distinguish the two cases.
* fix: guard token-record check so a store failure still prompts sign-in
The has_access_token_record() lookup ran outside the defensive handling
around token resolution. If the store read fails it would raise before
posting the sign-in prompt and clearing the Slack assistant status.
Wrap it like get_valid_access_token: on failure, default to the
sign-in/connect prompt.
* feat: open Slack-triggered PRs as the triggering user
Route the Slack per-user GitHub token through the dashboard OAuth store
(the backend the self-service link prompt populates) and block runs that
lack a valid user token, prompting the user to (re-)link. Per-user OAuth
now wins over bot-token-only mode for mapped Slack/dashboard users.
Flip commit/PR authorship across all sources: the triggering user is the
commit author (via repo-local git identity using their resolvable GitHub
noreply email) and open-swe[bot] is the Co-authored-by collaborator.
* fix: address PR review — shell-escape commit identity, fix token cache impersonation
- Shell-escape the triggering user's name/email with shlex.quote before
embedding them in the repo-setup `git config` command, so a name like
O'Connor (or a crafted one) can't break or inject into the command.
- Stop consulting the shared thread-metadata token cache in
_resolve_dashboard_user_token. Slack thread ids are shared across the
conversation, so a cached token from a prior triggering user could be
returned for the current github_login. Always resolve by login from the
dashboard OAuth store instead.
* feat: dashboard self-service user mapping + UI cleanup
- Add session-scoped GET/PUT /dashboard/api/my-mapping so users can set their
own work email / Slack member ID (keyed by their GitHub login, source=self).
- Slack account-link prompt now redirects to Profile Settings after auth.
- Rename "My Settings" -> "Profile Settings" and "Cloud Agents" -> "Open SWE
Agent"; remove the Integrations tab/section (folded out, low value for now)
and redirect /integrations to Profile Settings.
- Add a "User mapping" section to Profile Settings (work email used by Slack
and Linear, optional Slack member ID).
- Make dashboard auth cookies scheme-aware: Secure;SameSite=None over HTTPS,
non-Secure;SameSite=Lax over http://localhost so local login works.
* feat: self-service Slack account linking via Sign in with Slack (OIDC)
Replace the spoofable manual work-email/Slack-ID form with a verified
"Sign in with Slack" flow so a logged-in GitHub user can only ever link
their own Slack identity.
- New agent/dashboard/slack_oauth.py: OIDC authorize URL, code exchange,
userInfo identity parse, optional workspace gate, configured check.
- routes.py: session-gated GET /slack/login and /slack/callback that upsert
the mapping from Slack-verified user_id + email (source=slack_oauth).
Remove the spoofable PUT /my-mapping; expose slack_oauth_enabled on /me.
- UI: drop the editable inputs; add a Connect Slack button + status to the
User mapping section.
Admin-managed mappings are unaffected and still resolve at trigger time.
* Replace hardcoded GitHub-email map with Store-backed user mapping
Move the static GITHUB_USER_EMAIL_MAP to a Store-backed bidirectional
mapping (GitHub login <-> work email <-> optional Slack ID) with an
in-process cache, self-service onboarding, and admin management.
- agent/dashboard/user_mappings.py: Store CRUD + login/email/slack-id
indexes, sync cache readers for hot paths, async fallthrough, and a
bulk_import that preserves existing richer records.
- Migrate all read sites (auth.py, agent_overrides.py, authorship.py,
github_comments.py, webapp.py x2) off the dict.
- Unmapped Slack tags now run on the GitHub App installation token
(use_installation_token_fallback) and get an ephemeral "link your
GitHub account" prompt carrying the Slack id + email via a signed
account-link token threaded through the OAuth state.
- OAuth callback completes a self-service (org-gated) mapping from that
token, falling back to the verified GitHub email.
- Admin CRUD endpoints + one-time legacy import; dashboard UI section.
- Legacy dict retained only as the import payload (no longer read).
Tests: mapping store, account-link round-trip + completion, mapped vs
unmapped Slack flows; existing trust-gate tests updated to prime cache.
* Address review: cold-cache email resolution + stale alias de-indexing
- agent_overrides: add resolve_login_from_email_async that falls through to
the Store on a cold cache; use it at the async repo-resolution call sites
(Slack repo config, Linear comment, owner-metadata) so a mapped user still
resolves to their GitHub login + dashboard default_repo on a fresh worker.
- user_mappings.upsert_mapping: de-index the existing login before re-indexing
so a changed email/Slack id no longer leaves stale aliases resolving to the
login in-process.
- Tests for both fixes; update Slack repo-config test to patch the async resolver.
* feat: surface all of a user's agent threads in the Agents UI
Previously the Agents UI only listed and allowed opening threads with
source=dashboard. Threads triggered from GitHub, Slack, or Linear were
hidden and could not be opened.
- Persist owner-identifying metadata (source, github_login,
triggering_user_email, source_context) onto the thread for each
webhook-triggered main-agent run via upsert_agent_thread_owner_metadata,
resolving a github_login from the triggering email where possible.
- Relax dashboard thread listing/ownership to surface github/slack/linear
threads owned by the logged-in user (matched by github_login or email),
and preserve the original source + reply-routing context when continuing
such threads from the UI.
- Add a source field to the thread summary and render a source icon
(GitHub/Slack/Linear) on thread items in the sidebar and run cards.
* Normalize triggering email when persisting thread owner metadata
Mixed-case Slack/Linear emails were stored verbatim, but the dashboard
searches with a lowercased value, so those threads never surfaced for
their owner. Normalize at write time to match _thread_owner_email.
